On this job we laid a new 300mm twinwall pipe to replace an old tile drain which was choked up.
The photographs show a 15 inch water main which had been laid through the field in the 1960s.
The farmer did not know that this water main had cut through the drain tiles at the same level. The water main had been surrounded by stone to try and let the water find its way from one side of the pipe to the other. This meant that the tile drain had no clear vent and had eventually chocked up with silt.
We started the new 300mm twinwall pipe at the river outfall and gained enough depth to lay our new pipe under the water main and on up the field. This rectified the problem.
